This competition is operated and run by Midasplayer Technology AB a company incorporated and registered in Sweden with company number 556896-0925 whose registered office is at Sveavagen 44, 111 34, Stockholm, Sweden (also referred to in these terms as ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’).
By entering this competition you agree that you have read and accept these terms and conditions.
You must be at least 18 years of age at the time of entry in order to enter this competition.
You must not enter this competition if you or any of your immediate family are an employee, contractor or sub-contractor of us or our associated companies.
Multiple entries are permitted.
You must only submit entries that are your own work.
If more than one entrant enters with the same or similar entry, only the first entry will be valid and entered into this competition.
Entries which are incomplete, corrupt or illegible will not be accepted.
Each entry must use the Defold game engine and should have a minimum of two minutes play time or interactive experience in order to be accepted. You do not have to create a new game/interactive experience specifically for this competition. Entries may include games/interactive experiences you have already created provided that they meet the criteria set out in these terms.
We reserve the right to verify any entries and winners and may refuse to reward prizes and/or disqualify you if make or attempt to make any entry to this competition which is in our reasonable opinion contrary to these terms and conditions or by its nature unfair to other entrants. This might include entries which are made by automated means, fraudulent, made in bulk, made on behalf of another person, or made by hacking, cheating or deception.
You must comply with the laws that apply to you in the location that you access our competitions from. If any laws applicable to you restrict or prohibit you from entering our competitions, you must comply with those legal restrictions or, if applicable, refrain from entering our competition.
How to enter
The competition opens at [2016-11-11 at 00:00 CET and closes at [2017-01-22] at 23:59 CET. If you make any entries outside of this period they will not be valid.
We accept entries in the following formats provided they meet the following requirements (depending on your choice of platform):
Web - Required: Link to web page with HTML5 playable, or .zip containing all contents of a HTML5 bundle.
Mobile - Required:
Android: .apk file or link to published game/app on Google Play.
iOS: link to published game/app on Apple App Store.
Desktop - .zip file containing bundles for all desktop platforms (Win, OSX, Linux).
You will also need to include your team name (if applicable) along with the full name, email address, phone number and address of each member of the team who developed the game/interactive experience. If you are unsure of our submission requirements, please contact us as at: Info@defold.com.
You do not have to pay to enter any of our competitions, however you are responsible for any phone or internet charges you may incur in entering. If you’re unsure about these charges you should contact your phone or internet operator before entering.
Entries will not be acknowledged. We do not accept responsibility for entries that are lost or delayed or which we do not receive.
The prizes and winners
There shall be 6 winning teams.
The winner(s) shall be the entry which in the opinion of the judging panel (including an independent member) is the most artistically and/or technically polished and well-executed game or other interactive experience created in the Defold engine.
The prize is flights, accommodation and tickets for the Game Developers Conference 2017 Expo (March 1-3, 2017)(the “Event”) for up to three members of each winning team. We will also provide you with exhibition space at the Event for you to showcase yourself and your winning game/project. Each winning team is required to be represented (by a minimum of one team member) in the designated exhibition space for no less than 16 hours over the course of the Event promoting yourself and your winning game/interactive experience.
The flights shall be economy class, accommodation in up to a 3-star hotel (please note that accommodation may require sharing) or equivalent and winners shall receive standard Game Developers Conference Expo passes.
Winners must be able to travel in order to attend the Game Developers Conference at the above stated dates. In the event that any winner is unable to travel at such time, no alternative prizes shall be awarded.
It is the responsibility of each travelling team member of a winner to ensure that they hold a valid passport and/or any visa or other relevant travel documents which are required by them to travel. Such documentation shall be at the sole expense of each individual.
We will notify the winning team by email to the email address you provided to us within 30 days of the competition ending.
If you have not claimed your prize within 7 days of us notifying you that you are a winner and asking you for your postal address you will forfeit the prize.
We will send you the Game Developers Conference Expo passes promptly once we receive them from the Event organisers. Delivery costs are included in the prize unless otherwise stated. Flights and accommodation will be booked once the winning teams have been announced and the winners will be notified promptly once such bookings have been made.
You are responsible for any travel costs other than in clause 18, food, spending money, taxes, duties, import or other charges which may be payable in respect of your prize.
We have the right to substitute any prize for an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or another prize.
You may request the last name and country of prize winner(s) by sending an email to Info@defold.com. By entering this competition you give us permission to make your last name and country available in this way if you win.
The decision of the judging panel is final. No correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection of the winner of this competition.
About your entry
You promise that all of the information which you provide to us in connection with this competition shall be and shall remain complete and accurate.
You promise that your entry will not contain anything (i) that is or could reasonably be viewed as harmful, harassing, defamatory, libellous, obscene or invasive of another’s privacy; or (ii) which you do not have a right to make available lawfully (including any material which infringes the rights of any other).
You promise that your entry is your original work or, if you are entering this competition on behalf of a team, that your entry is your team’s original work and that you have permission to submit your entry on behalf of your team. You also promise that it is owned by you and you have not borrowed it or copied it (or any part of it) from anyone else. To the extent that your entry contains any third party intellectual property, you promise that you are entitled to use or have obtained permission to include such intellectual property in your entry.
By entering the competition you agree that we (including our group and affiliate companies) may edit, publish and use all or part of your entry in any and all media (including print and online) for promotion and news purposes both during and after the competition, without any payment to you. We may also use your name for these purposes.
Twitter: Any information provided by you in connection with the competition is provided to us and not to Twitter. You acknowledge that the competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Twitter. You agree to release Twitter from any responsibility to you in relation to the competition.
Facebook: Any information provided by you in connection with the competition is provided to us and not to Facebook. You acknowledge that the competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook. You agree to release Facebook from any responsibility to you in relation to the competition.
We accept liability for death of personal injury caused by our negligence or that or our employees or agents and for losses caused by the fraud or us or our employees or agents or any other liability which may not by law be excluded. For other loss or damage we will only be responsible for losses which are a reasonably foreseeable consequence of our negligence or breach of these terms and conditions up to the value of the winning prize. Losses are foreseeable where they could be contemplated by you and us at the time of you entering this competition.
We are not responsible for:
Losses not caused by our breach of these terms or negligence;
Losses which are not reasonably foreseeable by you and us at the time of you entering the competition, including losses which happen as a side effect of foreseeable losses;
any increase in loss or damage resulting from breach by you of any of these terms and conditions;
entries that are delayed or which we do not receive;
technical failures or the lack of availability of our website and/or social media channels where these are not within our reasonable control;
any loss or damage of the prize during shipping where such loss or damage is outside of our reasonable control;
any import duties or other taxes that may be payable by you in relation to the prize;
any failure to provide the competition, the prize(s) or to meet any of our obligations under these terms and conditions where that failure is due to events outside of our reasonable control, although we will endeavour to minimise the effect to you of any third party’s failure. In particular we are not responsible for the performance of any third party involved in providing the prize(s) (including, without limitation, if the Event organiser cancels the Event or, through no fault on our part, cancels our right to exhibition space at the Event).
We may wish to transfer all or a part of our rights under these terms to someone else without obtaining your consent. You agree that we may do so provided that the transfer does not significantly disadvantage you.
This competition and its terms and conditions shall be governed by the laws of England. Any additional rights which you may have as a consumer remain unaffected by these terms.
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with this competition will be adjudicated in the courts of England, unless you choose the courts of your home country instead.
