Minit Games partners with the Defold Foundation

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - October 8, 2026 - The Defold Foundation today announced that Minit Games joins the foundation as a corporate partner. The Defold Foundation will work together with Minit Games to accelerate development of new features for the Defold game engine and promote game development on new platforms.
We are excited to welcome Minit Games as a new Bronze Partner of the Defold Foundation!
Minit Games is a new platform for instant-play micro-games, designed to make discovering and playing games as easy as scrolling through a social media feed.
Games on the platform are called Posts: short, portrait-oriented experiences that load almost instantly and typically last around 60 seconds. There are no individual game downloads, installations, or app stores to navigate. Players simply play, and if they feel like changing a game - they tap the Minit button to scroll down to the next one.
For developers, Minit Games offers a new way to reach players. You build your games for Minit with the tools you already know. If a game runs in a browser, it can run on Minit Games. The platform provides free hosting and distribution, with creator monetization based on gameplay coming soon. Players will always be able to play for free.
We believe that Defold’s lightweight HTML5 builds and fast loading times make it a natural fit for this new format of bite-sized gaming.

Get started with Defold and Minit
Defold developers can already start building for Minit Games using these resources:
- the Minit Games SDK for Defold in Defold Asset Portal,
- a bare-bones Defold project template for Minit,
- and a small example game made with Defold for Minit.
What does this mean for the community?
Together with Minit Games, we will organize game jams with cash prizes where developers can experiment with creative ideas, build micro-games using Defold, and bring them to new audiences through the upcoming Minit Studio creator platform.
We are excited to explore this new approach to game discovery and help Defold developers find more opportunities to create, publish, and share their games.
